A ten-page brochure site and a 200,000-SKU e-commerce catalog are not the same SEO problem wearing different clothes. Enterprise e-commerce sites carry structural liabilities that smaller sites never encounter: faceted navigation that can spin off millions of filter-combination URLs, category templates duplicated across dozens of near-identical pages, product feeds that need to render correctly in a dozen languages and currencies, and a technical footprint large enough that Google has to make hard choices about which pages are even worth crawling. Generic "write better content, get more backlinks" advice does not address any of this. What moves the needle at enterprise scale is architecture: how the catalog is structured, how crawl budget is spent, how fast pages load under real traffic, and how structured data represents products to search engines. Below is what the primary research and Google's own documentation say about each of these levers, and why enterprise catalogs specifically need to get them right.

## Faceted Navigation Is the Single Biggest Crawl-Budget Risk

Every filter an enterprise catalog offers — color, size, brand, price range, material — multiplies the number of unique URLs a crawler can discover.
